Device requirements

Make the tech disappear before guests arrive.

The clean setup is simple: one shared TV screen, one phone per player, and a stable internet connection.

Required

  • Exactly eight adult players
  • One internet-connected phone per player
  • One TV or large shared display
  • A laptop, tablet, or browser-capable device for the shared screen
  • Stable Wi-Fi or cellular data
  • No printing required for the standard digital game

Quick checks

  • If a phone disconnects, rejoin with the room code.
  • Keep the shared screen awake during the party.
  • Use strong Wi-Fi or reliable cellular data.
  • Turn off aggressive browser zoom before guests arrive.
  • Keep audio at a room-friendly level if narration or clips are enabled.

TV options

HDMI from laptop

Most reliable. Open the host screen on the laptop, plug into the TV, and keep the laptop near the host.

AirPlay or screen mirroring

Good when the network is stable. Test mirroring before guests arrive so evidence is readable from the table.

TV browser

Works if the TV browser is modern enough. A laptop is still the safer launch-night choice.

Test before guests arrive

  • Open the host screen on the device that will connect to the TV.
  • Confirm the TV can show small evidence text from the farthest seat.
  • Scan a room code with at least one phone before guests arrive.
  • Keep chargers nearby for the host device and any low-battery phones.
  • Turn off sleep mode or keep the host device awake during play.

Supported browser target

  • Current Safari on iPhone
  • Current Chrome on Android
  • Current Chrome, Edge, or Safari on laptop/tablet
  • A modern TV browser only after testing readability and reconnect behavior
